Buzzword Alert: Egocasting

Wired Magazine had a fascinating article on the effect that “On Demand” style entertainment may be having on us.  For example, if everyone listens only to what they want to hear, to the extent that no one is really listening to the same things anymore, how will that affect relationships?  Are people going to become more isolated from each other?

A choice excerpt:
“[I]nsulated by our headphones and our La-Z-Boy recliners, we are willfully withdrawing from public spaces to wallow in a shallow, self-centered existence where we 'consciously avoid ideas, sounds and images that we don't agree with or don't enjoy.' And we've begun to prefer convenience to experience, half measures to full immersion.”
